Daily D.O.S.E of Happiness with Mulia Bali

Published on 24 January 2021 in Destination

If you agree that happiness comes from within, then this blog post might be the perfect hack to create better moods. Being happy indeed brings about positive feelings, including joy and pleasure that surely help you face (and slay) the day. Some also believe that happiness helps to improve and boost your immune system as well.

Maybe you have heard that our brain can naturally produce the ‘happy chemicals’ in the presence of something good, such as dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphin (sometimes referred to as D.O.S.E). Each chemical is said to be triggered by a certain situation or event. Inspired by this idea, we are listing down the things that you can do to hack your brain to boost you with an extra dose of happiness while you are on holiday with Mulia Bali, Nusa Dua.

Dopamine – The Rewards Chemical

Stimulated by: completing a task, celebrate little wins, doing self-care activities, eating good food

Do you feel happy when completing a task from your to-do list? That’s because you stimulate the dopamine chemical inside of you! Hack your brain into producing more dopamine when you travel. Before flying to Bali, you may want to start doing your research on places that you want or never visit in Bali, list activities and experiences you want to do on the island as well. Think of small simple tasks from the moment you step out of the house to the moment you come home - this will help you be in a better mood knowing that you've accomplished your travelling 'tasks'. Need some inspirations? You can reach our concierge at Mulia Bali to consult your day-to-day itinerary and ask for some recommendations as well. Or visit our Instagram for some inspirational feeds.

While you're in Bali, make sure to save an extra day just for yourself - to completely relax and enjoy a day of doing nothing! After all, you do deserve a break after going for adventures on the island of the gods. Celebrate your accomplishments with a relaxing day by the pool, nice leisurely drinks and dinner at Mulia Bali’s signature restaurants, or sleep in on our soft-as-cloud bed with luxurious high-thread-count beddings.

Oxytocin – The Love Hormone

Stimulated by: physical affection, giving and receiving a compliment, a good laugh

Plan your trip with your closest family members, best friends or your partner. Share the joy of the holiday and happy moments with them. Make the trip an opportunity to strengthen your relationship and create fond memories together. Surprise your loved one to a romantic dinner by the pier or in the privacy of your villa at Mulia Villas, spend quality time with your family with fun-filled daily activities at the resort, and snap your moments together at Mulia Bali's most insta-genic spots. While at it, laugh out loud and have a blast!

Serotonin – The Mood Stabilizer

Stimulated by: getting sun exposure, meditating

The warm feeling of the sun against your skin does induce the production of serotonin naturally. Reap the benefit of the good UVB from the sun, for 5 to 15 minutes a day. The best timing to get maximum benefit would be around 9 AM to 10 AM (Bali time). Sunbathing also helps your body produce Vitamin D, which is good for your skin - and that's the ultimate mood booster as well! You can also hack the brain to produce serotonin through light exercises, our daily yoga and meditation class by the beach or lush gardens are the perfect things for you to join when you're here. Don't forget that sunscreen though, your skin will still need protection when you're out in the sun.

Endorphin – The Pain Reliever

Stimulated by: exercising, laughing and eating dark chocolate

It might not be the kind of pain killer you might have in mind, but the 'happy chemical' is said to help your body feels less pain and fewer negative effects of stress. Hack the ‘happy chemical’ through workout and exercises. Ever feel that boost of energy after a good jog? Well, that's endorphin on the works! Our secluded 1-kilometre white sandy beach offers the perfect spot to jog, while the state-of-the-art gym offers daily classes, every hour! After breaking a sweat at the gym, give yourself a treat of dark chocolate sweets that you can find at our Mulia Deli for an added endorphin boost.
